Eagle Eye Solutions pilots first mobile voucher campaign at The Galleria with 8 leading retail outlets using Commidea Terminals
Mobile voucher and couponing technology provider, Eagle Eye Solutions and Commidea, the UK’s leading card payment processing solution provider, announce a new redeemable mobile voucher campaign to be used in a retail environment. It will be piloted in eight stores and processed using Chip & PIN terminals configured with the MiVoucher application. The stores piloting the mobile voucher scheme are all based at The Galleria, a designer outlet centre in Hertfordshire and include Nike, Moss, Calvin Klein and Antler.
Information inviting shoppers to text a number and request a discount voucher for their preferred store will be distributed in The Galleria during October’s half-term holiday. The voucher will be delivered as a text message to their mobile phone - a technology always to hand, rather than a paper alternative being left at home. Staff at participating stores enter the unique code in the mobile voucher into Commidea’s Chip & PIN terminal to verify the transaction and authorise the discount.
The scheme will provide insight into consumer behaviour as each voucher code is fully traceable. Retailers will gain a better understanding of their customers, including whether a particular voucher was used and, if so, when and where it was redeemed. This level of information will allow The Galleria and its retailers to target customers more accurately which will help to improve overall sales.
“This campaign aims to reward existing customers while also encouraging new ones to The Galleria. It is a great opportunity to trial mobile vouchers at the shopping centre before consumers begin to purchase their Christmas shopping,” said Tim Stirling, Centre Director at The Galleria. “If the campaign is successful, we will extend the scheme; we anticipate a keen interest from retailers as they look to boost sales following a difficult year.”
“Coupons have long had their appeal, but it is a real frustration for customers who forget to print out their coupon and bring it along when making a purchase,” said Stephen Rothwell, CEO of Eagle Eye Solutions. “Mobile gift vouchers also provide a convenient and cost effective alternative to the current plastic gift cards which incur a large cost to manufacture and dispatch.”
“Retailers already have a Chip & PIN solution in place to process card payments, so it makes sense to get as much out of your existing technology as possible,” said Ian Rutland, Marketing and Communication Director at Commidea. “Our latest software, Ocius Sentinel, not only supports value-added services such as voucher processing, but it can also reduce the burden and cost of achieving and maintaining the highest levels of security available on the market.”
